This gasket is between the exhaust manifold and the engine. The advantage of metal is that it can withstand temperatures and pressures at a much higher level than genuine parts. Metal gaskets are less likely to cause exhaust leaks than regular gaskets. If you are replacing your exhaust manifold or turbine, why not consider replacing it with this at the same time?
